Chief Buzzkill Officer
That’s what I’m trying to prevent.
Everyone is so excited about what the agents can do that they keep watching after it becomes clear the agents should stop doing it. "Look how much it's doing." "Yes. I'm stopping it." "But it hasn't finished." "That's what I'm trying to prevent." The Chief Buzzkill Officer presses the red button while the crowd is still admiring the fireworks.
Symptom
The Buzzkill stops impressive-looking work before it becomes expensive-looking work. They are unpopular precisely when they are most correct.
Why It Matters
Enthusiasm is a poor stopping rule. The Chief Buzzkill Officer exists because somebody must be authorized to end a run that everyone else is enjoying watching.
