The Idol of Eternal Standups is the coordination ritual that outlived the coordination. The team still meets every morning. They still go around the circle. They still report status. But the status doesn't connect to decisions, the decisions don't connect to action, and the action doesn't connect to outcomes. The Idol demands its offering and gives nothing back.
Symptom
Standups that take 30 minutes and produce zero decisions. Status that circulates but never converges. Blocked time spent discussing blocked time. Everyone attends; nothing arrives. The ritual is preserved long after its purpose died.
