The Qualified Reader
This does not make sense.
The boardroom is full of expensive people and a very polished slide. A model wrote the deck. The presenter has read the title. Several people have admired the formatting. Then an actual human being in an actual chair raises a hand: "This does not make sense." No one expected this level of danger.
Symptom
The Qualified Reader is the only person who reads the artifact before the meeting. Their questions are unwelcome, accurate, and usually precede a very quiet revision of the numbers.
Why It Matters
Fluency is not comprehension. A room that approves what it has not read outsources its judgment to whoever generated the document. The Qualified Reader keeps that judgment in the building.
